Fly to Valencia with a low cost company, there are many European destinations connected to Valencia city. Rent a vanyou campervan form our Valencia Depot, You don't need to carry your crash pad; you can rent one from us.
It is only 180km of free highway from Valencia. You need to exit in direction of Barcelona; then follow the A-23 towards Teruel take exit 124 indicating Albarracín and follow the A-1512 for about 30km.
Once in Albarracín, take a turn off to the left Bezas Cave Paintings follow the road for a couple of miles until two indicated car parks main car park you'll find a van parking area where you can spend the night.
We recommend you to buy the recently published guidebook with information on all the sectors to get the best from your stay inthe area (in Spanish, English, German and French).
From the car park you can walk to all sectors, it is important to find out about the areas where you cannot climb because there are restrictions depending on the time of year (there are informative signs). Besides climbing blocks, you can also visit the cave paintings in the area.
After climbing, don't forget to walk up the cobbled streets to the ancient walls and admire the churches, palaces and other medieval buildings that make this town a World Heritage site. Make also a visit to the bar "El Molino del Gato", a meeting place for climbers, which is located in one of the oldest mills of the region of Teruel, the Bridge Mill, dated from the sixteenth century.
The city has about 1,000 inhabitants and has basic services: groceries, lodging, campsite, bars and restaurants, chemist, cash dispensers, medical service, etc..
Albarracín is almost 1200m. above sea level and the weather can be very cold in winter, so you should better be prepared for low temperatures.
Finally, remember that this is aprotected area and it is veryimportant to respect the rules:
- No camping.
- Dogs mustbe on the lead.
- No lighting fires.
- No climbing outside authorized areas.
- No driving on paths nor parking outside authorised sites.
