Five second-hand vintage campervans converted by the company, all diesel with manual gearbox: Abriguitos (Peugeot Partner 2.0 HDI, compact, 5 seats, 2 travellers, 90x180 cm bed), Federica (Ford Tourneo Connect 1.8 turbo diesel, compact, 5 seats, 2 travellers, rear unit that converts into a bed), Chicharrera (Hyundai H1 2007, mid-size, 3 seats, 2 travellers and 1 child), Medanera (Nissan Primastar 2004, mid-size, 3 seats, 2 travellers, sliding sofa-bed) and Tejita (Peugeot Boxer 2004, large, 2 seats, 2 travellers, fixed double bed and interior bathroom). The year of the Partner and the Tourneo is not published.

My Little Camper Tenerife is an independent business based in El Médano, in the south of Tenerife, run by Ismael Rodríguez Martín, who says he lives on the island. It rents five vintage campervans converted by themselves, from compact vans to a large Peugeot Boxer, all second-hand vehicles from 2004 to 2007 (the Partner and Tourneo years are not published): the idea is low prices and a lot of personality, not a modern vehicle. Every van has a double bed, a kitchen set, a fridge and a shower, with rates per night, a 3-night minimum, a €500 deposit and a 25-year minimum age.

Vanyou's advice

My Little Camper Tenerife is a small independent business run by one person in the south of Tenerife, with five vintage, second-hand campervans (three of them from 2004 to 2007) that are deliberately simple and cheap: from €50/night with a 3-night minimum. Before booking, confirm whether the prices include VAT, where exactly the vehicle is handed over (the terms say San Isidro but the price page lists that as a €10 extra), what the Basic insurance really covers (it does not cover damage, and the deposit is €500) and what happens if you cancel with less than 15 days. There is no airport delivery published; the company only explains how to reach San Isidro by taxi or bus.

Extra: €12/day, €900 excess, glass, tyres, second driver and unlimited mileage. Premium: €18/day, €500 excess, glass, tyres, second driver and unlimited mileage.

  • Deposit: €500, pre-authorised and blocked on a credit or debit card (the same with any insurance, even though the Extra excess is €900); released after the vehicle is inspected, and the time depends on the bank. They may inspect the vehicle in the days after the return and keep all or part of the deposit while a claim is resolved.

  • VAT: not stated; confirm whether the prices include it.
  • Extras: early check-in or late check-out €20; cleaning €60; pick-up or drop-off in San Isidro €10 (the terms say this is where all vans are handed over: confirm); key padlock €20; second driver €20 (the terms say Extra and Premium include it); 3rd guest pack €20; 5G router €5/day.

  • Promotion: pay €50 and get a €100 voucher for a future booking, valid until December 2027, not for departures from November to February and non-refundable (their IG PROMO page).

Rental terms

  • Mileage: 200 km per day with Basic insurance (they consider it enough for the island); unlimited with Extra and Premium.
  • Minimum rental: 3 nights.
  • Minimum age and licence: 25 years old and a valid driving licence held for at least 2 years; only drivers named in the rental agreement may drive. The rules for non-EU licences are not published.
  • Vehicle age: second-hand vehicles from 2004 to 2007 (Chicharrera 2007, Medanera and Tejita 2004; the Partner and Tourneo years are not published). They state the vans may have cosmetic marks and a driving experience different from a modern car, and that they cannot guarantee there will be no breakdowns.
  • Pets: only with their prior approval; the van must be returned free of hair, odours and stains, and the cost of any special cleaning is paid by the renter. No smoking or vaping inside.
  • Cancellation: if you cancel 15 days or more before the start, the booking payment is refunded in full; what happens with less than 15 days is not stated (confirm). In documented force majeure cases (serious illness, hospitalisation, death of a close relative, government travel restrictions) you can reschedule or get a full refund.
  • Travel to other islands: only with their prior approval; they do not guarantee a replacement vehicle, accommodation or on-site assistance outside Tenerife. Ferry rules are not published.
  • Use: no driving under the influence, no races or sporting events, no terrain unsuitable for conventional vehicles, no subletting, no unauthorised drivers and no commercial use. Fines, tolls and penalties are the renter’s responsibility.
  • Return: if you do not buy the cleaning (€60), you must return the van as clean as it was delivered; they give a cleaning guide (about 1 h 30 min).
  • Vehicle replacement: they may replace the booked van with a higher-category one at no extra cost; if only a lower category is available, you can accept it and get the price difference refunded, or cancel with a full refund.
  • Contract: governed by Spanish law; confirm the details in the rental agreement.

What's included

Every van has a fridge (compact in Federica, a 12 V fridge according to their price page), a gas camping stove (portable stove in Abriguitos, Federica and Chicharrera, gas cooker in Medanera) and kitchen utensils, cutlery and tableware for two, plus camping table and two chairs. Tejita has a proper kitchen with sink, induction stove, large fridge, osmosis-filtered drinking water and a 10 L boiler; Medanera has a fridge and electrical box drawer and a gas cooker drawer. A coffee maker is mentioned on their home page.
Double bed in all five vans for 2 people: Abriguitos 90x180 cm; Federica with a rear unit that converts into a bed; Chicharrera with a double bed and a child bed (a mattress that fits over the front seats); Medanera with a permanent sofa that slides out into a double bed; Tejita with a large fixed double bed and storage underneath. The other bed sizes are not published. Bed linen (sheet, duvet, blanket on request) and 2 towels are included; a 3rd guest pack costs €20.
Outdoor shower with a water tank in the five vans (50 L in Abriguitos, 100 L in Medanera; the size is not published for the others). Tejita also has a full interior bathroom with shower and dry toilet, a 10 L boiler for hot water and a drinking water system with an osmosis filter. Chicharrera lists a portable toilet (their English page says potty, the Spanish one says chemical toilet); the other vans do not list a toilet. Optional water tank refill is mentioned in their terms without a price.
Auxiliary battery with USB ports in all of them (and a 220 V socket depending on the van): Abriguitos has a solar panel with a lithium battery; Federica has USB, USB-C and 220 V; Medanera has USB-C, USB and 230 V; Tejita has an auxiliary battery with two solar panels, 220 V sockets and USB, USB-C and 12 V points. Their home page mentions 12 V and 220 V electricity in all the vans. There is no mains hook-up cable published.
Camping table and chairs included in every van; outdoor shower with water tank in all five. Medanera has a metal roof rack (their English page also mentions a roof box and straps) for surfboards or kite gear; Tejita has under-bed storage for luggage, kite gear and even two bicycles. Mask and snorkel, yoga mat and surfboards can be rented per day.
Air conditioning in Chicharrera and Tejita; power steering in Medanera and Tejita; front and rear cameras and a Bluetooth sound system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in Medanera; TV with Google TV, security cameras, dashcam and rear camera in Tejita; roof windows with a fan in the mid-size and large vans; ventilator in Abriguitos and Chicharrera. A Wi-Fi router can be rented (€5/day). Child bed in Chicharrera (a mattress that fits over the front seats). Standing height is only mentioned for the large vans. Their vans are older vehicles: they warn about cosmetic marks and a driving experience that differs from a modern car.
Insurance is chosen per night: Basic (€0) covers third-party liability and, according to the terms, roadside assistance, but not damage to the vehicle, the conversion, the interior equipment, glass or tyres; Extra (€12/day, €900 excess) and Premium (€18/day, €500 excess) add glass, tyres, unlimited mileage and a second driver. Their site shows roadside assistance as not included in Basic in the price table, so confirm it. Local advice: the owners live on the island and share tips, routes and activity discounts (snorkelling, diving, surfing, kitesurfing), and they publish a 7-day itinerary with a Google Maps guide.
